Guidelines for Keeping a Lab Notebook A lab notebook is the primary permanent record of your research and experiments. Note that if you are taking an AP Placement lab course, you need to present a suitable lab notebook in order to get AP credit at most colleges and universities. Here is a list of guidelines that explains how to keep a lab notebook. Notebook Must Be Permanently Bound It should not be loose-leaf or in a 3-ring binder. Never tear a page out of the lab notebook. If you make a mistake, you can cross it out, but you should not remove sheets or parts of sheets from your book. When you cross out an error, it should still be legible. You should be explaining the reason for the strikethrough and you should initial and date it. To that point, it is not acceptable to take notes in pencil or erasable ink. Keep Everything Legible and Organized Organization is key to a good lab book. Print your name, contact info, the date and other pertinent information on the cover of the lab book. Some lab books require you to enter some of this information on every page of the book. If your book is not pre-numbered, number every page. Usually, numbers are located in the upper outer corner and both the front and back of each page is numbered. Your labor instructor may have a rule regarding numbering. If so, follow their instructions. Its also a good idea to reserve the first couple of pages for a Table of Contents. To keep everything organized and simplified, start a fresh page for each experiment. Be Precise in Your Record Keeping This is a record of the lab work you have done during the semester or year, so it needs to be thorough. For each experiment, record the date(s) and list lab partners, if applicable. Record all information real-time. Dont wait to fill in the information. It may be tempting to record data elsewhere and then transcribe it into your lab notebook, usually because it would make the notebook neater, but its important to record it immediately. Include charts, photos, graphs and similar information in your lab notebook. Usually, youll tape these in or include a pocket for a data chip. If you must keep some data in a separate book or other location, note the location in your lab book and cross-reference it with the relevant lab book page numbers wherever the data is stored. Dont leave gaps or white space in the lab book. If you have a big open space, cross it out. The purpose of this is so no one can go back in and add false details at a later date.

Unique memory
Each individual has unique memory for oneself shared with no one else in the world. Such memory makes one different from others. Therefore I am curious to know what memory is. Right now I am Just a bundle of â€Å"memories†in my mind and body. Psychology defines it as a process in which information is encoded, stored, and retrieved. But is memory limited to the define domain? If so, how do millions of atoms that could be flying through the cells randomly stay to gather in a double helix structure in order to create a DNA molecule in a way so that it is unique to every vying creature on earth?It is difficult to explain this without knowing how memory truly works. Memory must be evolving at a much deeper level,perhaps even from the physical level and could manifest into chemical, biological and psychological levels. Perhaps physics has an explanation. Memory could be more fundamental than physics, and as a result memory can help us understand physics better. This notion may dra stically transform the way we have been looking at physical aspects of the universe. King Edward VIII Abdicated for Love
King Edward VIII did something that monarchs do not have the luxury of doing â€â€Ã‚ he fell in love. King Edward was in love with Mrs. Wallis Simpson, not only an American but also a married woman already once divorced. However, in order to marry the woman he loved, King Edward was willing to give up the British throne â€â€Ã‚ and he did, on December 10, 1936. To some, this was the love story of the century. To others, it was a scandal that threatened to weaken the monarchy. In reality, the story of King Edward VIII and Mrs. Wallis Simpson never fulfilled either of these notions; instead, the story is about a prince who wanted to be like everyone else. Prince Edward Growing Up: The Struggle Between Royal and Common King Edward VIII was born Edward Albert Christian George Andrew Patrick David on June 23, 1894, to the Duke and Duchess of York (the future King George V and Queen Mary). His brother Albert was born a year and a half later, soon followed by a sister, Mary, in April 1897. Three more brothers followed: Harry in 1900, George in 1902, and John in 1905 (died at age 14 from epilepsy). Though his parents surely loved Edward, he thought of them as cold and distant. Edwards father was very strict which caused Edward to fear every call to his fathers library since it usually meant punishment. In May 1907, Edward, only 12 years old, was shipped off to the Naval College at Osborne. He was at first teased because of his royal identity but soon garnered acceptance because of his attempt to be treated like any other cadet. After Osborne, Edward continued on to Dartmouth in May 1909. Though Dartmouth was also strict, Edwards stay there was less harsh. During the night of May 6, 1910, King Edward VII, Edwards grandfather who had been outwardly loving to Edward, passed away. Thus, Edwards father became king and Edward became the heir to the throne. In 1911, Edward became the twentieth Prince of Wales. Besides having to learn some Welsh phrases, Edward was to wear a particular costume for the ceremony. [W]hen a tailor appeared to measure me for a fantastic costume . . . of white satin breeches and a mantle and surcoat of purple velvet edged with ermine, I decided things had gone too far. . . . [W]hat would my Navy friends say if they saw me in this preposterous rig? 1 Though it is surely a natural feeling of teenagers to want to fit in, this feeling continued to grow in the prince. Prince Edward began to deplore being set on a pedestal or worshipped - anything that treated him as a person requiring homage.2 As Prince Edward later wrote in his memoirs: And if my association with the village boys at Sandringham and the cadets of the Naval Colleges had done anything for me, it was to make me desperately anxious to be treated exactly like any other boy of my age. 3 World War I In August 1914, when Europe became embroiled in World War I, Prince Edward asked for a commission. The request was granted and Edward was soon posted to the 1st Battalion of the Grenadier Guards. The prince. however, was soon to learn that he was not going to be sent to battle. Prince Edward, extremely disappointed, went to argue his case with Lord Kitchener, the Secretary of State for War. In his argument, Prince Edward told Kitchener that he had four younger brothers who could become heir to the throne if he were killed in battle. While the prince had given a good argument, Kitchener stated that it was not Edward being killed that prevented him from being sent into battle, but rather, the possibility of the enemy taking the prince as prisoner.4 Though posted far from any battle (he was given a position with Commander-in-Chief of the British Expeditionary Force, Sir John French), the prince did witness some of the horrors of the war. And while he wasnt fighting on the front, Prince Edward won the respect of the common soldier for wanting to be there. Edward Likes Married Women Prince Edward was a very good-looking man. He had blonde hair and blue eyes and a boyish look on his face that lasted his entire life. Yet, for some reason, Prince Edward preferred married women. In 1918, Prince Edward met Mrs. Winifred (Freda), Dudley Ward. Despite the fact that they were about the same age (23), Freda had been married for five years when they met. For 16 years, Freda was Prince Edwards mistress. Edward also had a long-time relationship with Viscountess Thelma Furness. On January 10, 1931, Lady Furness hosted a party at her country house, Burrough Court, where, in addition to Prince Edward, Mrs. Wallis Simpson and her husband Ernest Simpson were invited. It was at this party the two first met. Prince Edward was soon to be infatuated with Mrs. Simpson; however, she didnt make a big impression on Edward at their first meeting. Mrs. Wallis Simpson Becomes Edwards Only Mistress Four months later, Edward and Mrs. Wallis Simpson met again and seven months after that the prince had dinner over at the Simpsons house (staying until 4 a.m.). And though Wallis was a frequent guest of Prince Edwards for the next two years, she was not yet the only woman in Edwards life. In January 1934, Thelma Furness made a trip to the United States, entrusting Prince Edward to the care of Wallis in her absence. Upon Thelmas return, she found that she was no longer welcome in Prince Edwards life - even her phone calls were refused. Four months later, Mrs. Dudley Ward was similarly cut out of the princes life. Mrs. Wallis Simpson was then the princes single mistress. Who Was Mrs. Wallis Simpson? Mrs. Wallis Simpson has become an emotional figure in history. Along with this, many descriptions of her personality and motives for being with Edward have caused some extremely negative descriptions; the nicer ones range from witch to seductress. So who really was Mrs. Wallis Simpson? Mrs. Wallis Simpson was born Wallis Warfield on June 19, 1896, in Maryland, United States. Though Wallis came from a distinguished family in the United States, in the United Kingdom being an American was not highly regarded. Unfortunately, Walliss father died when she was only five months old and left no money; thus his widow was forced to live off the charity given to her by her late husbands brother. As Wallis grew into a young woman, she was not necessarily considered pretty.5 However, Wallis had a sense of style and pose that made her distinguished and attractive. She had radiant eyes, good complexion and fine, smooth black hair which she kept parted down the middle for most of her life. Wallis First and Second Marriages On November 8, 1916, Wallis Warfield married Lieutenant Earl Winfield (Win) Spencer, a pilot for the U.S. Navy. The marriage was reasonably good until the end of World War I, as it was with many ex-soldiers who became bitter at the inconclusiveness of the war and had difficulty adapting back to civilian life. After the armistice, Win began to drink heavily and also became abusive. Wallis eventually left Win and lived six years by herself in Washington. Win and Wallis werent yet divorced and when Win begged her to rejoin him, this time in China where he had been posted in 1922, she went. Things seemed to be working out until Win started drinking again. This time Wallis left him for good and sued for a divorce, which was granted in December 1927. In July 1928, only six months after her divorce, Wallis married Ernest Simpson, who worked in the family shipping business. After their marriage, they settled down in London. It was with her second husband that Wallis was invited to social parties and invited to Lady Furnesss house where she first met Prince Edward. Who Seduced Whom? While many blame Mrs. Wallis Simpson for seducing the prince, it seems rather more likely that she was herself seduced by the glamor and power of being close to the heir of Britains throne. At first, Wallis was just glad to have become included in the princes circle of friends. According to Wallis, it was in August 1934 that their relationship became more serious. During that month, the prince took a cruise on Lord Moynes yacht, the Rosaura. Although both Simpsons were invited, Ernest Simpson could not accompany his wife on the cruise because of a business trip to the United States. It was on this cruise, Wallis stated, that she and the prince crossed the line that marks the indefinable boundary between friendship and love.6 Prince Edward became increasingly infatuated with Wallis. But did Wallis love Edward? Again, many people have said that she did not and that she was a calculating woman who either wanted to be a queen or who wanted money. It seems more probable that while she was not infatuated with Edward, she loved him. Edward Becomes King At five minutes to midnight on January 20, 1936, King George V, Edwards father, passed away. Upon King George Vs death, Prince Edward became King Edward VIII. To many, Edwards grief over his fathers death seemed much greater than the grieving of his mother or his siblings. Though death affects people differently, Edwards grief might have been greater for his fathers death also signified his acquisition of the throne, complete with the responsibilities and eminence that he deplored. King Edward VIII didnt win many supporters at the beginning of his reign. His first act as the new king was to order the Sandringham clocks, which were always a half an hour fast, set to the correct time. This symbolized to many a king who was to deal with the trivial and who rejected his fathers work. Still, the government and the people of Great Britain had high hopes for King Edward. He had seen war, traveled the world, been to every part of the British empire, seemed sincerely interested in social problems, and had a good memory. So what went wrong? Many things. First, Edward wanted to change many of the rules and become a modern monarch. Unfortunately, this caused Edward to distrust many of his advisors because he saw them as symbols and perpetrators of the old order. He dismissed many of them. Also, in an effort to reform and curb monetary excesses, he cut the salaries of many royal staff employees to an extreme degree. Employees became unhappy. The king also began to be late or cancel appointments and events at the last minute. State papers that were sent to him were not protected, some statesmen worried that German spies had access to these papers. At first, these papers were returned promptly, but soon it would be weeks before they were returned, some of which had obviously not even been looked at. Wallis Distracted the King One of the main reasons he was late or canceled events was because of Mrs. Wallis Simpson. His infatuation with her had grown so extreme that he was severely distracted from his State duties. Some thought she might be a German spy handing State papers over to the German government. The relationship between King Edward and Mrs. Wallis Simpson came to an impasse when the king received a letter from Alexander Hardinge, the kings private secretary, that warned him that the press would not remain silent much longer and that the government might resign en masse if this continued. King Edward was faced with three options: give up Wallis, keep Wallis and government would resign, or abdicate and give up the throne. Since King Edward had decided that he wanted to marry Mrs. Wallis Simpson (he told Walter Monckton that he had decided to marry her as early as 1934), he had little choice but to abdicate.7 King Edward VIII Abdicates Whatever her original motives, until the end, Mrs. Wallis Simpson didnt mean for the king to abdicate. Yet the day soon came when King Edward VIII was to sign the papers that would end his rule. At 10 a.m. on December 10, 1936, King Edward VIII, surrounded by his three surviving brothers, signed the six copies of the Instrument of Abdication: I, Edward the Eighth, of Great Britain, Ireland, and the British Dominions beyond the Seas, King, Emperor of India, do hereby declare My irrevocable determination to renounce the Throne for Myself and for My descendants, and My desire that effect should be given to this Instrument of Abdication immediately. 8 The Duke and Duchess of Windsor At the moment of King Edward VIIIs abdication, his brother Albert, the next in line for the throne, became King George VI (Albert was the father of Queen Elizabeth II). On the same day as the abdication, King George VI bestowed upon Edward the family name of Windsor. Thus, Edward became the Duke of Windsor and when he married, Wallis became the Duchess of Windsor. Mrs. Wallis Simpson sued for a divorce from Ernest Simpson, which was granted, and Wallis and Edward married in a small ceremony on June 3, 1937. To Edwards great sorrow, he received a letter on the eve of his wedding from King George VI stating that by abdicating, Edward was no longer entitled to the title Royal Highness. But, out of generosity for Edward, King George was going to allow Edward the right to hold that title, but not his wife or any children. This greatly pained Edward for the rest of his life, for it, was a slight to his new wife. After the abdication, the Duke and Duchess were exiled from Great Britain. Although a number of years had not been established for the exile, many believed it would only last a few years; instead, it lasted their entire lives. Royal family members shunned the couple. The Duke and Duchess lived out most of their lives in France with the exception of a short term in the Bahamas as governor. Edward passed away on May 28, 1972, a month shy of his 78th birthday. Wallis lived for 14 more years, many of which were spent in bed, secluded from the world. She passed away on April 24, 1986, two months shy of 90. 1. Dynamic conservatism is described as a tendency within a population to struggle for the maintenance of the status quo. This status quo maintenance is found desirable for the sake of stability within a state. The phenomenon is considered dynamic, as it is based on an active attempt to fight against forces that seek to overthrow or change the established order. Dynamic conservatism is more than mere resistance to change, as it includes mechanisms that learn from situations and make targeted efforts at strengthening the forces within the organization (or state) that are concerned with preservation of the status quo. With regard to the activities of the 1950’s, dynamic conservatism refers to Eisenhower’s domestic policy that supported and strengthened the New Deal giving it more legitimacy. It involved scaling down of the budget and the removal of federal influence in certain aspects of the country’s running (Davidson, 2002). Politics of consensus represented a form of agreement within the governmental, economic, and societal bodies. It involves a widespread understanding that consultation among these actors will take place regarding issues that are of national importance. It sought to create a harmonization of the ideas and desires of the influential and representative bodies in the country (such as trade unions and political parties). The party in power creates a system by which it seeks out the input and suggestions of all the involved entities. This provokes consideration of all the interests that attach to certain political decisions and seeks to ensure the inclusion of these interests in the final solution. The politics of consensus, as is implied by the term â€Å"consensus†seeks to identify a solution that is created by all and accepted by all involved. Therefore, rather than decisions being representative of the triumph of one party or group over another, it would reflect the cooperation of all groups in the taking of a political or socio-economic decision. Before Dwight Eisenhower came to the presidency, Americans faced uncertainty in an economy that was recovering from the depression of the 1920’s and 1930’s while being in the middle of a war (World War II). Consumer confidence was low, as resources were scarce and tapped. However, recovery came during the Eisenhower administration, when the American society entered an era of consumerism in which the values and actions of the consumer played a dominant role in the country’s economics. The economy was growing vastly, and income levels were increasing. This created not just more money in families, but also more leisure among Americans. Consumer confidence was high, as was confidence in the state of the American economy. This led to increased spending, and the resultant materialism. From the president, Americans no longer required specific action but the assurance that such prosperity would continue, and the moderation that defined Eisenhower’s administration reflected the surface contentment of the American society (Davidson, 2002). While the exact beginning of the Civil Rights Movement is unclear, a major revolutionary marker was the Supreme Court decision that maintaining and mandating separate facilities for different races was inherently unequal. This occurred in the 1954 Brown vs. Board of Education case, which overturned the Plessy vs. Ferguson case over a half century earlier. This was followed hard upon by the Montgomery Bus Boycott in 1955, which took place in Alabama. It represented a more concerted effort on the part of black persons to garner the recognition of their rights to use the facilities provided by their country in an equal way. This event, which was triggered by the refusal of Rosa Parks to move to the back of a bus, led to an explosion of civil rights demonstrations in the South and around the country. The United States became interested in helping France to retain hold of its territory in Vietnam. The problem of communism was related to this, as the doctrine of communism containment heralded by Harry Truman targeted the communist stronghold regionâ€â€South East Asia. This region was made up of many small communist countries, and their size made it more likely that they (rather than larger communist counterparts) should fall. The domino effect was considered by Eisenhower as how such a fall should occur. He proposed to target one country in that area, and expected the subsequent fall of the others. The initial communist party was begun by Ho Chi Minh in Vietnam, who sought independence from the Vichy French. Warlike relations only escalated when the Americans entered into the dispute in order to aid the French, and this assistance only increased upon the invasion of the South Korea by North Korea in 1950. McCarthyism enabled distrust among the ranks of many political, social, and economic entities in the United States. This distrust fueled not just underground activity and disgruntled feeling toward the United States government, but fierce sentiment against communism also has been considered as a factor in the assassination of later United States presidents and congressmen. It has therefore caused a lot of citizen distrust of the government. Dynamic conservatism. Dynamic conservatism has impacted such areas as civil rights movement, gay rights and women’s rights, as this tendency defines the actions of such groups that would have preferred that the minorities remain unrepresented and repressed. However, the Civil Rights movement of the 1950’s and 1960’s has led to an increased level of equality not just for African Americans, but also for other racial minority groups in the United States. It has been the fore-runner of such policies as affirmative action, which grants places within key organizations and key opportunities for minorities. Politics of consensus has been a method through which harmony has been restored somewhat to the political and social climate of the United States. This form of government has sought to create an open forum in which dialogues now take place regarding issues of great importance to many groups within the country. Consumerism allowed for the expansion of the United States economy, as it boosted consumer confidence, which increased spending and stimulated further economic growth. The involvement of the U.S. in Southeast Asia led to further involvement and was in the Korea and subsequently in Vietnam. This has had a negative impact on the image of presidents in the White House and upon the government as a whole, especially during the Vietnam War period. Anti-war sentiment regarding this was has continued very far beyond that period. The institution is well established, with campuses in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Cairns. It also has a campus in Hong Kong, in the Peoples Republic of China. Holmes Institute is one of the most reputable institutions of higher learning in Australia. The institute admits students for undergraduate, graduate and high school diploma courses. The institution is populated mainly by Australian students, with a sizeable population of international students. These students have a profound effect on the general makeup of the institution. The undergraduate and graduate levels of education at the school are mostly oriented towards business education, which is in high demand in Australia and the wider region (Tisdell, 2013). Changing political and socials economic realities for instance mean that a school in Australia is ready to accept students from particular countries, which previously would not have been possible (Rani, 2014). A changing economic and technological atmosphere means that products which organizations offer must be able to be versatile and measure up to expectations. Technology has for instance meant that the methods of learning are more interactive and versatile. Students have access to much more information than would be the case before. Due to this, the organization which is able to adapt most successfully to the environment is also likely to be the most successful at attracting and retaining customers (Cohen, Prayag Moital, 2014). Education is a service. As such, it follows the same laws of service marketing as other things such as tourism. One of the most important aspects in this sector is differentiation, whereby the company or other entity successfully shows the market that it offers a different product, which is superior to others. As a country, Australia has been able to do this (Winstewd Patterson, 1998). For individual institutions such as Holmes however, there is a high degree of competition among other schools which may be well established and possess the same, or superior, resources. Indeed, education has long been termed as Australias biggest service export, even surpassing tourism. The allure of Australian education is augmented by its alignment with the best western standards, coupled with its proximity to the major sources of these students. Additionally, as a member of the Commonwealth, an organization of former British colonies and dominions, Australia offers improved offers for students originating from commonwealth countries such as India, South Africa and Malaysia(Chowdhury, 2011). At Holmes Institute, the students are of all ages, including minors, for whom special arrangements on welfare are made in conjunction with their guardians. Despite the focus on international students, the vast majority of the student population at Holmes is Australian, accounting for more than 75% of the student population. Holmes institute offers a multi-sectoral education programme, from high school, diploma and higher education facilities. The institutes high school and diploma offering is closely aligned with Australian general standards. However, the higher education is decidedly business oriented, with major courses being in business management and information technology (Kendall, 2007). The students religious and racial background is diverse. However, most of the students are Christian, Muslim, Hindu or irreligious. In terms of race, most were Caucasian, with significant proportions of black African and Asian populations. All in all, the diversity of the institution meant that while Caucasians were more than the others, they were not the dominant group. This increased the diversity of the group. Additionally, the fact that most of the students were millennials, who were known for their levels of tolerance for different people and points of view, was important in making the institute among the most sought after institutions of higher education in Australia and beyond (Kendall, 2007). A majority of the students who have decided to study at Holmes Institute have been attracted by the high quality of education that the institute offers. The sensitivity of the price that has been set by Holmes is also a big influence for the students, who have chosen to come to Holmes instead of more expensive schools offering the same prices. Equally important is the message that the price communicates. It is not the cheapest of the higher education facilities in Australia. Rather, it tries to show that it offers high quality services that justify the prices charged as fees (Wearring et al, 2015). The students in the sample are defined by their diversity. However, they are overwhelmingly young, with more than 90% being under the age of 25, and only 1% being over 30 years of age. They are in the millennial group, which is characterised by competition, confidence and tolerance for diversity. The group is also renowned for its sociability, high level of achievement, and identification as true global citizens. This is well expressed at Holmes, where students are clearly at home away from their countries of origins, and the Australian students do not seem under any pressure from the presence of foreign students (Wearring, 2015). The psychographics of the students can therefore be analysed in terms of their age, background, and particular expectations form their experience at Holmes. While they were enthusiastic about their institution, their background meant that they had different attitudes to their studies. Students form countries economically developed countries were focused on using their newly acquired qualifications to secure better livelihoods in countries of origin. Those who were from poor countries that did not have enough economic activities were keen on staying on in Australia. These were likely to be sensitive about the price too, and the content of the product they were purchasing (Wearring et al, 2015; Kendall, 2007). Normally, the customer decision making process consists of five steps. These are problem recognition, information search, evaluation of alternatives, purchase, and post purchase satisfaction or dissatisfaction. Many countries form which the foreign students come from offer education that is substandard, and ill equipped to handle the realities of a global economy. Australian students enrolled at the institute hat they need a qualification which will help them secure jobs, and equip them with the necessary facilities needed to compete in the job market, as well as excelling in entrepreneurship. The students in the sample obtained most of the information they required about Holmes and other institutions by using the internet, where almost every school has a presence. Besides this, information was gathered by speaking to students who had already been to the schools, as well as education fairs. Having secured the information necessary, the students who evaluated the choices they had. In doing this, the assessed their needs, and the ability of each of the institutions they had picked to meet these needs. This assessment also delved on the reputation and the prices of studying at each of the schools, and what others were saying about the institution (Pellemans, 1971). Having done this, the student would then move on to the selection of the desired institute the purchase. Here, the students would choose the institution they felt would best serve their interests, in terms of obtaining the desired qualification at the right price. Issues of welfare were also considered, including the student experience and the ease of settling down in these institutions. Now that the students had already enrolled at the institution, they were still in the process of purchasing, which would be done in phases. During this process, and at the end of it, they would reflect on whether the experience was worthy it, or what could have been done to make the experience even better. The students generally felt that the institution offered superior services, and that it could be a great avenue for others who wished to make it in the corporate world, or as entrepreneurs. The school has therefore been mostly reviewed as satisfactory, with a minority of students showing dissonanc e (Milner Rosenstreich, 2013). Overall, the reasons for satisfaction after the purchasing process are dependent on the characteristics and needs of the students, as well as the quality of the product that the institute offers. Due some inaccuracies during the earlier steps on the process, such as inaccurate collection of information, or wrong evaluation of the available choices, the satisfaction may be affected. Some students may have needed a specific qualification, due to their belief that this would be easier and more aligned with their skills. If the qualification is later found not to be in line with the expectations, there is likely to be dissatisfaction with the product purchased. Such instances were few, but were nevertheless present. This also points to the need of the organization to carefully orient their students, so that they can know what they are getting into early enough (Pellemans, 1971). Student motivation Motivation can be defined as the psychological force that enables action. The level of student motivation at Holmes Institute is dependent on the psychographics of the students, as well as the quality of services offered at Holmes institute. The services offered at this institute are of high quality, as the sample indicated during the research. However, this therefore greatly motivated the students to join and study at the institution. The services offered at the institution including orientation and other services instituted at the school to make it easier for students to get by are also very important. For instance, students who are well oriented by the institution, and who find supportive programs at the institution are more likely to be motivated, and eventually, to be satisfied with the services offered (Herve Mullet, 2009). Personality and emotions are also important in affecting their purchasing decisions. Some people, based on their personalities, feel that they are better placed studying business in university. They also feel that the Holmes institute offers the m with programs that best play to their strengths, due to the diversity, and the support programs offers. The personality of some students is such that English is their second or third language. They may have difficulty integrating in the school and in Australian society in general. Due to this, they will find it hard to excel and be happy with the product they acquire at Holmes, unless the institute offers them the required support (herve Mullet, 2009). Recommendations As institutions of higher learning seek to cash in on the higher fees paid by international students, there is a need to be more adaptive to what these students need. The majority of international students are from the neighbouring Asian countries. While these students have high purchasing power, they also have difficulty in cultural issues. For instance, the language barrier means that schools have to change the way they change their tuition methods. Additionally, they need to offer more support to their students, so that these students can be more satisfied with the education which is offered. The use of technology in advertising and communicating with potential students is also important. The institutions of higher learning should therefore be ready to invest in this. Additionally, they should be appreciative of the reasons why students come to Australia their curricula must adapt to both local and international business needs, for it to truly help the students. The school needs to further innovate and create a distinct brand for itself. It can incorporate the existing goodwill and reputation concerning Australian education sector, but additionally come up with distinct characteristics which will set it apart even in the country.
